time at the beach

The sound of the waves crashing on the shore.
The feel of sand between the toes.
The wind whipping through hair.
The smell of water.

All of these create a symphony to the senses.
I adore going to the beach.
To be able to photograph friends on the beach is like icing on the cake!

I have known this family for quite some time. As my family grew, so did theirs.

To be able to photograph my friends while on vacation was a wonderful treat for me.
The beach was clearing out from all those who came to enjoy it for the day and the sun was beginning to set.  We could not have asked for a better evening to have a session.

I can't wait to show your images to you!

3 Sisters

I had the privilege of photographing 3 girls this summer. The oldest I have known since she was just a toddler- our daughters knew each other in storytime at the public library.  Who knew that years later I would be honored by having her and her 2 sisters in front of my lens.

I loved every minute photographing them- each with their own personality shining through. This is just a peek of the sisters  that I got in my time spent with them.  Thank you so much asking me into your home and capture your family's poetry of life.

This image is my favorite of all three girls together on their great-grandmother's couch.

a little at a time

I have not completely disappeared.  I have been putting my efforts into other people and things.
I have been prioritizing and finding out what is important in my life.

I do have some images to share and hope to make more changes as I get back into my photography online.  I have photographed for my own creativity and learning experiences since I last sat in front of this blog.  I hope to share some of these images with you.

I have been studying about my photography,  how to prioritize and let go of things in my photography world that hold me back from moving forward and putting my efforts toward improving how I see myself as a creative and professional.

I will be making more changes on my blog, trying to get a new website up and running and getting back in touch with those who have been in front of my lens in the past as well as getting out and capturing the poetry in your lives.

Please be patient as I continue to move back into the photography world, sharing my view through my lens.  I am definitely out of the habit of writing but know (just like I tell my kids) the more I do it the easier it will become.
The more I share the easier it will be to do that as well.

Light! | amwz photography

Light gives of itself freely,
filling all available space.
It does not seek anything in return;
it asks not whether you are friend or foe.
It gives of itself and is not thereby diminished.

What to Wear Wednesday | amwz photography

So Tiffany Mckinzie created this fabulous closet- windows perched high above framed cubbies holding boots, scarves, jeans and a mirror to do a quick touch up and on one side is a section just for SHOES!

While I was in there I found the IT color for this year.... I just knew Denise would have it in her closet and she did!! See, you don't have to go crazy with the HOT color of the year- just a touch and it can set an entire outfit off! Tie that scarf around your neck or just on your the strap of your black handbag and you have it together for sure!
I love this color and it is such fun- they call it honeysuckle- but I call it HOT! LLLove it!

details of a room | amwz interior photography

warm wood tones
small weave grass cloth
wam and cool metalics
shell-like bone
cool white paint
all of these are simple things by themselves but placed in a small room together they offer a tremendous amount of interest... and this was before any art was placed in the room, before any towels were brought in for another layer of texture, color and design.

Each are simple things but it takes an eye for design to bring them together.
It makes me take a long look around my own home and try to figure out how to incorporate some of the things I have learned while photographing the interiors of Tiffany McKinzie Interior Design's latest work.

snippit | southlake interior design photography | amwz photography

I loved the textures found throughout the house.. this one of bone, grass cloth and even some metalics. A little goes a long way sometimes but this piece was demanding center stage and it definitely got it before the room was completed. Soon I will show what else went into the making of this little room. Can you guess what this was from and how it is used??
